Open BlueDragon Steering Committee

Alan Williamson announced earlier today the folks who will make up the steering committee for the Open BlueDragon (OpenDB) project.

Having known Alan for 4 years now, since I first asked him to present at the ScottishCFUG, I was aware that OpenBD was on the cards.

The members of the committee should be known to most of the community, and as Sean Corfield points out, not all of them have enjoyed a "friendly" relationship with New Atlanta in the past. However, that just goes to show the level of interest and commitment to the OpenBD project, and ultimately what it could achieve.

If you want to get involved in the project, then please join the community mailing list, which can be found at http://groups.google.com/group/openbd

If you want to experience OpenBD firsthand, then the initial release of OpenBD should take place at this years cf.Objective() conference, and 6 of the Steering Committee will be at Scotch on the Rocks;Alan Williamson, Andy Wu, Sean Corfield, Matt Woodward, Mark Drew and myself

We're planning something special for Scotch, so stay tuned!

The Creative License Tour

I'll be in Edinburgh on October 9th for the Adobe Creative License Tour

This is a great chance to find out more about Adobe's Web and rich internet application development tools, specifically Flash CS3, Flex, AIR and ColdFusion 8

User Group Mini Tour Update

With a highly successful User Group meeting in Aberdeen out of the way, Edinburgh is next.

This will be a lunch time get together in the Cambridge Bar, starting at 12.30. For anyone who can stick around longer than the hour, feel free to do so.

Also, we've moved the Glasgow meet up to the 24th September to accomodate Peter Bell, who will be back in Scotland at that time.

Scottish ColdFusion User Group Mini Tour

September will see me perform a very small tour of some of the local cities to meet up with fellow ColdFusion developers.

No formal presentations, just a get together that will allow me to hook up with some folks, some old friends and hopefully some new. The idea is simply to talk shop, find out what folks are up to at work, what difficulties they are facing, what they think could be done to solve some of their problems and generally just have a chat.

Here's the current schedule:

  • September 7th, Aberdeen
  • September 11th, Glasgow
  • September 12th, Edinburgh

I'll post more information, including times and venues when they are confirmed.

Hopefully I'll see a lot of folks there.
